Fernando Colchero

I am a statistical ecologists and modeler. My work focuses on developing statistical methods to understand how demographic rates vary among populations as a function of the environment and other variables.

Johanna Stärk

PhD in Biology

Johanna is doing her PhD with Dalia Conde and Fernando Colchero on filling demographic knowledge gaps for conservation priorization. She is using quantitative methods and decision analysis to identify costs and oportunities for conservation of endangered species.

Rita Silva

PhD in Biology

Rita is doing her PhD with Dalia Conde and Fernando using demographic methods to determine the limits of captive breeding to assess traffic of endangered species.

Francisco (Pancho) Villavicencio

PhD in Statistics (Graduated)

Francisco finished his PhD where he developed statistical and mathematical methods to analyse and explore sparse demographic data. Among his projects, he developed a hierarchical Bayesian method to explore mortality patterns from 16th and 17th Century parish marriage records in Barcelona, Spain. He is currently doing a Postdoc at the Max-Planck Odense Center in the Department of Public Health, SDU.

Sarah S. Nielsen

Masters in Mathematics (Graduated)

Sarah did a joint project with Janne developing multilevel Bayesian hierarchical models for age-specific survival to test the effect of environmental variables on aging rates.

Janne A. Eriksen

Masters in Mathematics (Graduated)

Janne did a joint project with Sarah developing multilevel Bayesian hierarchical models for age-specific survival to test the effect of environmental variables on aging rates.

Burhan Yasin Kiyakoglu

Masters in Applied Mathematics (graduated)

Burhan did his MSc thesis on developing hierachical Bayesian methods to estimate the effect of individual heterogeneity on ageing rates.

Alix E. Aliaga

Masters in Biology (graduated)

Alix finished her masters thesis with Dalia Conde and Fernando. She analysed mortality and fertility patterns in sparrowhawks and how these differ between sexes and as a function of reproductive investment and individual heterogeneity. She is currently working at the biological consultancy Amphi Consult.

Emil Guttesen

Masters in Biology (graduated)

Emil finished his masters degree with Fernando and Dalia Conde where he develope a meta-population model to implement a restauration plan for frogs in the city of Odense. This is part of a long-term project for the restauration of urban ecosystems. He is currently working at the biological consultancy Amphi Consult.
