Course Program

The course program for the student is designed in cooperation with the advisors of the student. The course program must fulfill the requirements given by the Faculty of Science. This research training program imposes the additional requirement that, under normal circumstances, the course program must include at least 10 ECTS of Ph.D. courses in Computer Science (DM2xx course codes or DM8xx codes and preapproved as Ph.D. courses).

It is expected that the students in this program participate in international meetings. This can enter into the course program based on an internal examination process, where the student presents several results from the meeting to two faculty members associated with this research training program, one of which is usually the advisor.

Most courses a Ph.D. student would take would be elective courses that are not offered at regular schedules. The best approach is to plan this in dialogue with a potential advisor who would also be able to make reasonable guesses as to which course would run and when. To give some idea, you can see the list of courses, running in the current semester, some of which maybe approved as Ph.D. courses and some of which you may be allowed to take as "tool" courses. In addition, summer courses at other institutions are often a good targeted possibility.

The faculty details the current conditions for approval of course activities.
