Octave

A clone of Matlab that uses similar syntax. Available only for Linux.

SciLab

A clone of Matlab that has the same functionality but different syntax and supports all systems.

SAGE

Computational Algebra System based on Python

Python

A general purpose programming language. The syntax is diffrerent from Matlab but learning this language may be a very good investment for all future interactions with computers.
