DM26, Fall 2005 - Weekly Note 2
AnnouncementIn the period September 26 through October 7, IMADA holds studies advising. It is mandatory for all students (except first year students) at IMADA-related studies to come to this studies advising (HA-Dat students of DM26 are exempted). You sign up at IMADA's secretaries' office (as soon as possible). Please have your picture taken before the advising by showing up at the department (at "værkstedet") between 12:00 and 14:00 on September 15, 19, or 22. Note that these dates are all prior to the advising period.
Lecture September 14Finishing of E-R Model. Relational model, conversion from E-R model to relational model. (slides: pdf). Relational algebra (slides: pdf).

RemarksAt the lectures, I for conceptual clarity try to keep the relational model and SQL separated (unlike the book). I have therefore not discussed any SQL syntax yet, and you can read lightly the SQL syntax appearing in the sections above (some exercises are phrased using this SQL syntax, though).
