For HA-Dat students
This course DM26 Database Systems doubles as the course Databaser
for HA-Dat students. To keep the wording simple, the material on the
website of the course will in general be phrased in terms of the DM26
course, and all differences between the courses will be collected here. The
differences are:
- The HA-Dat version of the course is only 5 ECTS (not 7.5), and will
only use approximately 2/3 of the lectures and exercise classes (the first
2/3). More precisely, HA-Dat participants are expected to follow the course
until we have passed Chapter 14. The last HA-Dat lecture will be stated on
the weekly notes when approaching. However, all students are free to follow
all lectures, if desired - knowledge of the remaining chapters will further
improve your abilities to use a database efficiently.
- The project project will constitute the
examination for the HA-Dat version of the course (no oral exam). For HA-Dat
students, the project will be evaluated according to the 13-scale (instead
of passed/not passed). The project will also be slightly different, as
described in this addendum to project for
HA-Dat students.
- HA-Dat students may (but are not required to) use MySQL instead of
PostgreSQL, and for the project write a web-application using PHP instead
of a command-line application using Java.
- The official course description for the HA-Dat version of the
course is different, and can be found
here.
