DM505, Spring 2006, 4th Quarter - Weekly Note 1

Note: There are four slots (two hours each) scheduled. We will only need three, as we during the quarter will alternate between weeks with 2x2 lectures + 1x2 exercise classes, and weeks with 1x2 lectures + 2x2 exercise classes per week. There will be no exercise classes the first week.

The course starts Monday, April 3. At this lecture, we will decide which of the four slots not to use.

Introduction to course. Introduction to Database Management Systems. The Entity-Relationship Model.

Ramakrishnan and Gehrke: Chapter 1 and 2 (you can skip 2.7 and 2.8).
