News

19.10.2010: There will be two questions hours (feel free to go to any of them): One by Magnus, Thursday Oct. 21st, 14:00 in U49; the other by Kathja, Monday Oct. 25th, 15:00 in U26a. Magnus will go through the exam from last year - it is profitable if you bring the exam set and have a look at it before.

14.10.2010: Final slide set is available online in blackboard (ppt and pdf). The pdf version (approx. 84 MB) can also be found here.

14.10.2010: The mandatory assignment solutions can be picked up in the last discussion section (Friday 15.10). Until the exam they will be in the secretaries' office, in case you couldn't manage to pick them up.

11.10.2010: Slides for Chapter 8 are online (preliminary version).

08.10.2010: Weekly Notes for week 41 are online.

06.10.2010: Slides for Chapter 4 are online (preliminary version).

02.10.2010: Weekly Notes for week 40 are online.

28.09.2010: Preliminary slides for Chapter 3 are online.

25.09.2010: Weekly Notes for week 39 are online.

23.09.2010: Schedule change: Because of the årsfest in week 39, the Friday discussion section for group S1 is moved (from Firday 14-16) to Thursday 12-14, room U53 (located here).

22.09.2010: Slides for Chapter 2 (preliminary version) are online.

21.09.2010: Problem 2 and Problem 3 of the second mandatory assignment are very similar. Note that the grading will be done such that the better of the two solutions will be taken into account for the grading. That means that by solving Problem 1 and Problem 2 only (or Problem 1 and Problem 3 only) you can achieve all points for that mandatory assignment.

17.09.2010: Weekly Notes for week 38 are online. They include the third mandatory assignment.

14.09.2010: Slide set in Blackboard was updated.

10.09.2010: Weekly Notes for week 37 are online. They include the second mandatory assignment.

09.09.2010: English-Danish translation of terms used in the book can be found here (based on an earlier edition of the book).

03.09.2010: Weekly Notes for week 36 are online. They include the first mandatory assignment.

27.08.2010: Webpage online

Mandatory Assignments

During the course there will be three mandatory assignments, which count for 30% of the final grade. If you miss the deadline for submission, the solution is graded with 0 points. The assignments are part of the exam and have to be solved individually. Solutions to assignments must not be copied from other people's work in full or in part. Working together will be treated as exam cheating. Please refer to this page for more detailed rules of academic integrity.

The solutions have to be submitted via Blackboard. For sumitting your solutions you need your CPR-number. Note that in the upper left hand corner of the blackboard webpage for this course, there is an icon which you can click on to expand the menu for the course. It is just to the left of the code for and name of the course. For handing in as assignment click on the menu entry "Tools", and then choose "Assignment hand in". Blackboard will send you a receipt via email. Note that you will not be able to turn in an assignment late.

  • The first mandatory assignment is given on the weekly notes for week 36. The deadline for submission will be September 17th, 13:00.
  • The second mandatory assignment is given on the weekly notes for week 37. The deadline for submission will be September 24th, 13:00.
  • The third mandatory assignment is given on the weekly notes for week 38. The deadline for submission will be October 1st, 13:00.

Solutions need to be submitted as one PDF file. Other formats are not accepted.

The front page of a solution file should clearly specify your name, the discussion section name (M1, S1, or S7), and a date and a time of when the PDF was created (such that the latest versions can be determined in case of resubmissions).
