Workshop on On-Line Algorithms 2004 (OLA 2004)The workshop, On-Line Algorithms 2004 (OLA 2004), will take place at Rungstedgaard in Rungsted Kyst, Denmark, July 5-7, 2004. OLA 2004 will be held in the spirit of the series of three workshops on on-line algorithms, which have been held at Dagstuhl in 1996, 1999, and 2002. OLA 2004, will be a satellite workshop of SWAT 2004, which will be held at Louisiana, a modern art museum in Humlebæk, a short distance from Rungsted Kyst. Rungstedgaard is also the recommended place for lodging for SWAT participants. SWAT will be held July 8-10, 2004, and ICALP will be in Turku, Finland, July 12-16, 2004.
Invited Speakers
Call for AbstractsOLA 2004 will be kept as much in the spirit of Dagstuhl workshops as possible, but since OLA 2004 will be a satellite workshop of SWAT, we must require that speakers submit a two-page abstract before February 12, 2004. Authors will be informed of the program committee's decisions by March 23. There will be no proceedings, so authors are encouraged to submit elsewhere also.Submission InformationA submission should consist of a two-page abstract, plus a bibliography, in PDF or postscript format. We are using essentially the same submission system as SWAT 2004. The form to be filled out contains an abstract field. Please use that field only to specify who will be giving the talk and a contact email address. We expect that each speaker will give only one talk, as at Dagstuhl workshops.
The submission deadline was 16:59 GMT on February 12, 2004.
ProgramThere is now a tentative program for the workshop.Registration InformationIt is important to register before the deadline on May 2, 2004, since those rooms which are not reserved will be released. To ensure that we receive the form by May 2, 2004, please fax it, but mail a copy also. Note that the registration fees include the room (the three nights from July 4-7) and all meals. We will acknowledge the receipt of your fax, typically the next working day. If you do not receive an acknowledgment, please contact us, since otherwise we cannot guarantee a room.
Travel InformationCopenhagen's airport, called Kastrup, has a train station at the international terminal. There is a train going from Kastrup to Rungsted Kyst every twenty minutes, at 6 past the hour, 26 past and 46 past, at least until midnight. Tickets should be bought at the DSB ticket office in the terminal, before going down to the platform. The train will be heading towards Helsingør, and the ride to Rungsted Kyst lasts 45 minutes. The station at Rungsted Kyst is within walking distance of the conference center, Rungstedgaard. If you have much luggage, you might want to take a taxi anyway. Call 4916 2525, if no taxi is present. For participants who will be staying for SWAT, travelling between Rungstedgaard and Louisiana by public transportation, it is probably advisable to purchase a 7-days FlexCard at the airport.
If you are driving from Copenhagen to Rungstedgaard,
take the expressway labelled E47 and E55 north.
About 8 kilometers after route 19 joins E47 and E55,
you should exit at Exit 12. Continue straight on
Elleslettegårdsvej for about 600 meters, where it
should become Gøngehusvej. Continue for about 3
kilometers to Vedbæk Strandvej, and turn left.
In about 1.4 kilometers, it will become Rungsted
Strandvej, and after about 2.6 kilometers, you
should see Rungstedgaard on your left.
The address is: 2960 Rungsted Kyst The first line is the street name and the number on that street, and the second line is the zip code and the town.
The phone number is +45 4586 4422.
If you might arrive after midnight,
please contact us at Weather in July in Denmark can vary from cool (high 15C / 60F) and rainy to warm (high 25C / 80F) and sunny. Be prepared for either, and note that there is no air-conditioning (actually almost nowhere in Denmark).
If you are planning to arrive early, a list of hotels
in Copenhagen can be found
via Copenhagen This Week.
It may be possible to book a room at Rungstedgaard
before the workshop, but staying in Copenhagen for
a day is probably more interesting. After the workshop,
all rooms at Rungstedgaard are currently reserved for SWAT.
If you attend SWAT, you can make a room reservation when
you register for SWAT.
