Lecturer's Comments to the Midterm Evaluation

I was quite happy with the results from the midterm evaluation and will not comment on most of the questions.

There was on question, however, phrased as follows:

How do you find the combined lectures/exercises/project workload?

Almost everyone answer "to the high side", i.e., "3" on a scale from 1-4. That could reflect something fairly average or something fairly high, so I asked for a more detailed assessment, asking the students for an answer to the same question in a break while I was gone, using the scale 1-10. The result was the following (leaving out zero entries):

5: 3
6: 6
7: 1
8: 3

This results in an average of 6.6, where 5.5 would be the neutral value.

I find that this is fairly reasonable, particularly given that for some students, this is their first master level class.
